Top 7 Travel Destinations for Amazing Scenery and Fitness Workouts

Shipwreck (Navagio) Beach – Zakynthos Island – Greece: On top of my bucket list is to hang out on a beach in Greece. There are so many gorgeous ones to choose from, but this one is absolutely awesome. I can snorkel from cave to cave in the crystal clear waters, explore a shipwreck on the beach (hence the name), and of course, relax with plenty of sunscreen at the end of the day.

Walk Rome: Back in a high school, Connor and I always planned to go to Italy someday. A three hour walking tour of the Colosseum, ancient Rome and the Arch of Constantine in the morning followed by three more hours touring Piazza Di Spagna, Rome’s center, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona in the afternoon will hit a lot of the sights. After all that walking, I’ll be working out a deal with Connor to trading foot massages at the end of the day.

Kayak through the Grand Canyon: Not just a one day float trip. I’m looking at a two week, 200 mile trip down the Colorado River in class 4 rapids. This will give my arms a serious workout and test my endurance, while I take in the amazing panoramic views and travel through the deepest part of the Canyon.

Rock Climbing Mt. Arapiles in Australia:  This week-long trip offers some of the best rock climbing in Australia. I’ll use muscles I didn’t know I had on this cliff line jutting out from the flat Wimmera Plains of North Western Victoria.

While we’re over on that side of the world, let’s check out caving in New Zealand: In the North Island, Waitomo Caves can be explored by walking, floating (known as black water rafting), and rappelling, climbing and squeezing. Oh yeah, those muscles I didn’t know I had are going to come in handy.

Zip-line in Thailand: Act like a monkey (or rather a gibbon) in the Mae Kompong rainforest. Over three hours I can zip between platforms, sky bridges and lowering stations, moving through different layers of the rainforest canopy, eye level with the birds. It seems like I’m just hanging on for the ride on a zip-line, but I plan to work my core muscles to keep my body erect and enjoy the best view!

Hike to Mt. Everest base camp, Nepal: Seriously, if I’m going to have a list of international excursions that test fitness and adventure limits, Mt. Everest has to be on the list. I can walk along the trail the Dalai Lama called “the steps to heaven” as I spend two weeks of strenuous hiking going from 9,400 foot elevation to 17,598 feet. I better talk Connor into coming with me because it definitely sounds like I’m going to need a partner to trade serious foot massages with at the end of the day.

#TuesdayTeaser - Love Him or Leave Him #smalltownromance

To celebrate yesterday's release of Love Him or Leave Him, I am offering this teaser:

“We’re creating a cocoa scientifically,” Becca explained. “We’ll record each ingredient used and the reasons why we picked it, as well as the reasons why we reject the others. We’ll also record our response to each flavor.”

Connor could handle a taste test. After all, he judged the Chili Cook Off each year. “And the audience is supposed to find this entertaining?”

“Hey, be thankful I saved you from boredom and you get to be up here doing the fun part.” She shook her head. “I can only imagine what people do for fun in real cities.”

“You don’t think this is real?” Connor asked.

“I don’t think our community is a fair representation of what the rest of the world is like. And really,” she teased, “would you want a chipped ceramic mug of brown liquid to rank at the top of your memorable life experiences?”

She pulled a tray of spices from her bag and arranged it between them. “Why don’t you taste the plain cocoa first, so we have a starting point?”

Connor dutifully lifted the steaming mug, trying not to be stung that he wouldn’t count as a memorable part of her life.

“Your response should include whether the smell and taste of each ingredient makes your partner feel more romantically inclined,” Pauline added to the group.

He nearly spewed his drink. He was supposed to not only admit, but rate the increase in his attraction to Becca?

“Good, you firmly established us as a zero on the romance scale.” She smacked him on the back. “That’s where I intend to stay. If you start moving up the scale, I will poison you.”

He pressed his lips closed to keep from smirking. It wouldn’t do to let her know her murderous threats made him feel more romantically inclined.

"You left your tools behind," Veronica noted as Matt backed out of the driveway. "We didn't finish hanging the gate, and I really wanted to meet the owner of that house."

"I'll come back and finish up. The job's almost done."

"So I'm your top priority." She leaned her forehead against the window. "That's so sweet."

His chest tightened, but he kept his voice impassive. "You have a warped idea of top priority if you think someone who makes you beat yourself up with tools and then pass out is sweet."

She lifted her head enough to smile weakly at him. "Matt Shaw, you are without a doubt the sweetest boss I've ever had."

His fingers twitched. He clenched the steering wheel, but it was a poor substitute for the skin he longed to touch. "You're only saying that because I haven't fired you yet."

Reading Romances Challenge 2013 - January

The book category for January's challenge was marriage of convenience, so I picked up Three River Ranch by Roxanne Snopek. Here's the tagline: To save his ranch, he needs a wife. But can she save his heart?

Oh my gosh, so perfect, right? Having read of few of these marry-to-save-the-ranch books over the years, I thought I knew exactly how the story was going to unfold. I was surprise and delighted to find that I was wrong. The author twisted this tried-and-true premise with an engaging plot and spunky, likable characters. I highly recommend it to fans of sweet category romance.

Needing a fresh start from her two-timing fiancé, Aurora McAllister answers a realtor’s ad for a guesthouse on the beautiful, serene Three River Ranch. She shows up at Three River tired, heartbroken, and with no one but her trusty Labradoodle as a companion.

Cowboy Carson Granger has enough trouble in his life without adding a woman and her dog to the mix. There’s the untamed mustang he’s prepping to release into the wild, not to mention his father’s crazy will, which stipulates that if Carson wants to fully inherit Three River, he’ll need to find a bride. Carson wants nothing to do with love and especially not a marriage of convenience. But he soon realizes Rory, and everything she represents, might just be exactly what he needs.

Summer Vacation

Wonder why I've been neglecting this blog for two whole weeks?  I spent my summer vacation at the Wiccan Haus. Don't believe me? Look at these stunning pictures. Okay, I admit, they're not from the Wiccan Haus, that magical island only accessible by ferry boat. But they are from an island. It is only accessible by ferry boat. And I came back amazingly refreshed and relaxed.

I had the pleasure of visiting Mackinac Island this summer. The picture on the left is the natural feature Arch Rock. Below is the coast with its crystal clear water and beautiful colors. I have been staring at these pictures ever since I returned, mostly because I couldn't stay and stare at them in person nearly as long as I wanted to!

I admit I have Wiccan Haus on the brain. For the parts  of the summer when I wasn't hanging out with my toes in the water or mesmerized by the beautiful scenery, I was immersed in the Wiccan Haus world. My next Wiccan Haus book Psychic Lies will come out on October 26th.

But you don't have to wait that long for a book from me. My first Finally Ever After short story Zane's Art (also from Musa Publishing) will come out the week before on October 19th.

My huge news of the summer: I have signed with Entangled Publishing. They are launching their Bliss Imprint on August 25th. My novel (tentatively titled) Construction Beauty Queen will be released on September 25th as part of their line. I am so excited. This story is very close to my heart, and I promise to have more details soon!

Finally, my first upcoming release on September 15th is More Than A Fantasy, a one night stand short story that is part of Decadent Publishing's 1Night Stand series. I have an amazing, sexy cover that I will unveil tomorrow.  Stay tuned!
