Mother's Day Book Blast Blog Hop

I'm a full-time mom of three and a full-time author writing under two different names.  Unfortunately, adding these roles together doesn't double the amount of time I have in a day, so mostly I settle for running around like that proverbial nightmarish chicken with its head cut off.  If you have kids, I imagine you probably do something similar, although with a lot more class and grace, naturally!

I've always loved to read and write romance.  As my children got older and learned to read, I found myself wanting to write something we could all enjoy together.  Because I understand the need for both adult reading pleasure and reading that you can enjoy with your children, I put together a little Mother's Day package to give away.

On Monday, May 7th I'll pick one random winner from the comments to win a copy of my contemporary romance Mr. Forever for yourself and a copy of my chapter book The Bravest Squirrel Ever for the kids.  Make sure to include your email address and your preferred file type (Kindle, Nook or pdf) in your comments.  Contest is open internationally.  Like my Facebook page for updates on both my Sara Daniel romances and Sara Shafer children's chapter books.

The only woman who can help Caleb bond with his son is on a mission to destroy the career he's dedicated his life to.

Pippi the squirrel isn't brave and has no interest in earning the title of "The Bravest Squirrel Ever."  Scared of thunder, lightning and being "flopped" by the humans, Pippi only wants to return to Mama's warm, cozy nest.  Instead, she stumbles on a better nest.  There's only one problem.  It's in dangerous, forbidden human territory.  The attic nest is too perfect for Pippi to resist, and she moves in.  The humans soon discover her. Instead of driving her out, they seal off her only exit, trapping her inside.  To escape and to survive, Pippi must face her fears and depend on herself for the first time in her life.  In doing so, she learns just how brave a little squirrel can be.

If your kids have a special interest in squirrels or The Bravest Squirrel Ever piques their curiosity, I have fun facts about squirrels and more information about The Bravest Squirrel series on my family-friendly Sara Shafer website.

Spring Fling Blog Hop

I'm excited to join Selena Blake's Spring Fling Blog Hop and tell you about my first foray into writing paranormal romance. I'm giving away a copy of that book to one one lucky winner, and don't forget to enter the Rafflecopter drawing for the free Nook as well.

The Wiccan Haus intrigued me from the moment I heard Musa Publishing was developing a magical world that was open to submissions. I saw the cover for the first book in the series, and I couldn’t look away from the intense, rugged hero. I bought my copy of Shifting Hearts by Dominique Eastwick as soon as it was available and read it that night. I fell in love with the quirky cast of characters that inhabited the island, and I knew I wanted to create a story in that world.

I’d never written paranormal before, and I’d never written for a shared world. I had reservations about both. They were both immediately put to rest. Incorporating magic and paranormal elements gave me so much story depth that wouldn’t have been possible in a straight contemporary. The characters of the Wiccan Haus were a ready-made, fun, quirky cast. I fell in love with each one, as they took turns pushing Justin and Holly to grow, heal, and recognize their love for each other.

He has nothing left to offer. She's determined to show him just how much he's worth.

Shot by a member of his military team, Justin Lawson retreats to the Wiccan Haus. Holly Walters refuses to accept her boyfriend's out-of-the-blue rejection without an explanation, even if getting the answers forces her to be trapped on a bizarre island for an entire week. She's going to use every minute to work Justin out of her system once and for all. Justin's body and spirit begin to heal under Holly's loving ministrations. As she talks about never seeing each other again, he realizes he never wants to let her go. But the rogue assassin who had gone after Justin before is after him again. Before he can fight to make Holly believe in their love, he'll have to fight for both their lives.

To be entered to win, leave a comment letting me know what you think of the Wiccan Haus series.  Then like my page on Facebook, follow me on Twitter, and follow my blog here. I'll pick one random winner to receive a copy of A Man Worth Fighting For.  Make sure to include your email address and your preferred file type (Kindle, Nook or pdf) in your comments.  Contest is open internationally.

Hunky Hero Update

Keep casting your votes for Rekkus or Justin until midnight tonight on the Hunky Hero Hop.  I've had a blast pitting these two bad-ass hotties against each other, although I have a feeling if they could give me a piece of their mind about the whole thing, it wouldn't be pretty!

This Saturday, April 28th, I will be at the Chicago Northwest Marriott in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, signing Mr. Forever and A Man Worth Fighting For.  Even if you've already bought or won a copy, make sure to stop by so I can give you an autographed cover.  The signing is from 2:30 - 4:00 PM and is open to the public.  Click here to see all the awesome authors that are participating.

I will announce a winner of the Hunky Hero Hop in the comments tomorrow.  Also, tomorrow I start a brand new blog hop, and you could win a NOOK!  So, be sure to check back.

Hunky Hero Giveaway Hop

Hunky Hero Giveaway Hop

Where do you go for a hunky hero? The Wiccan Haus!

On the left is Rekkus, a were-tiger and the head of security for the Wiccan Haus.

On the right is Justin, a wounded military hero of a top secret paranormal team.

Both men consider it their primary duty to protect others. Both will risk everything to protect the one they love.

Which hunky hero would you want as your personal bodyguard?

by Dominique Eastwick

Sometimes it takes losing everything to find the one thing you need.

The last of his kind…

Rekkus is the last of the great Black Tiger weres and he is happy to stay that way. Working as security for the Wiccan Haus, a magical spa for inner healing, he has enough danger – and women – to keep him busy. Unfortunately, the Fates are not content with him being comfortable.

Alone and discouraged…

Dana has walked away from all she has known, her fiancĂ©, family, apartment, and job. Now, having a ticket to the Wiccan Haus may be the only way she can move on. But what she finds isn’t what she expects, nor is it what she thought she was looking for.

Meet the unusual residents of the Wiccan Haus. The staff can get a little hairy and not all of the guests eat what’s served in the dining hall. But the proprietors always do what they can to make the resort into a place of healing and peace, using all of their years of practice. At the Haus, where humans and Paras reside side-by-side, everyone in need of the Rowan siblings’ services are welcome.

Interview with Holly Walters

A Man Worth Fighting For has been making the rounds to several different blogs.  I talked about my switch from straight contemporary to paranormal on Dawn's Reading Nook last week.  In case you missed Holly Walter's interview on the Musa Publishing blog, I am posting it below.

Today we welcome Holly Walters of The Wiccan Haus: A Man Worth Fighting For. Thank you for coming to chat with us today, Holly. Why do you think Sara Daniel chose you to represent her?
Well, that’s easy. She tried to get Justin to come here, and he refused. Since running a PR company is my job, I understand the value of reaching out to people and building a solid network. Honestly, I’ll be able to tell you more about Justin than he’d ever admit to himself.

Tell us a little about yourself.
Justin, who I’d been dating for a year, sent me an eight-word text to end our relationship. “I don’t want to see you anymore. Sorry.” Really? That’s all I get after a year together? I don’t think so. Sometimes a girl has to stick up for herself and demand better, so that’s exactly what I did. I tracked Justin all the way to the Wiccan Haus.

Do you feel you were portrayed fairly?
I wasn’t very happy that calling all of Justin’s colleagues and taking a week off work to find him made me look like a stalker ex-girlfriend. Then Sara made me look like I was going crazy because of all the weird—some people would say magical—things happening on the island. My clients depend on my upstanding, sane reputation. But you know what? I forgive Sara because she brought me to Justin and gave us a second chance to work out our issues.

Speaking of Justin, what do you think of him getting his picture on the cover? Are you jealous you don’t get to share the cover with him?
Not at all jealous. Justin is a determined, honorable man who will go to any length to protect the people he cares about. Despite putting his life on the line every day for his country, he never figured out that he is a man worth fighting for. That’s why I came to the Wiccan Haus to fight for him. That’s why I’m on this blog spilling our private details. Besides, have you ever seen a hotter, sexier man than my Justin? No, you haven’t, and that perfection deserves to have an entire cover devoted to it.

Do you believe in ghosts?
Well, if you’d asked me before I came to the Wiccan Haus, I would have said absolutely not. But after spending a week at the Wiccan Haus, let’s just say I now believe in things I never imagined existed before. Ghosts don’t even begin to cover it.

Why should the readers be interested in your story?
Besides the fact that reading A Man Worth Fighting For is like taking a mini-vacation to the Wiccan Haus, everyone needs to meet Justin and hear his story of bravery, healing and determination. If that’s not enough for you, here’s the clincher. He’s sexy, strong and vulnerable all at once. Who wouldn’t fall for a man like that? However, since I’m not going to share him with you, you’ll just have to read the book if you want to experience it for yourself!
